I am a sex worker advocate and performer. I became a sex worker while trying to survive in New York City and go to a super-privileged university. Though I have had some struggles with the work, I have found great empowerment in sex work. It has meant survival and it has meant that I have not had to compromise some of my core values. I also enjoy being a sex worker.
At the same time, I recognize that I have had many privileges that others have not enjoyed, even within the sex industry. I have also struggled, and I have grieved. I still grieve. Much of this struggle and grief comes from an unjust system. Therefore I am committed to social justice and challenging the oppressive forces prevalent in the American and global systems, particularly racism and classism.
I will talk about my experiences through working with certain organizations. Though I work for, or with these organizations, everything I write here is a reflection of my own thoughts and opinions, and are not meant to reflect the thoughts and opinions of the organizations I work with.
